Colossus, the idea

"Colossus" is the working title for our ambitious RTS project. In 2019, Justus and Emil began working on an RTS, referred to in other posts as the "old RTS." Colossus represents our renewed effort to bring our unique ideas to life in the RTS genre.


Below, we outline some of our core ideas and mechanics. Numerous innovative concepts and mechanics are planned to ensure Colossus offers a unique and distinctive gameplay experience.

Attention to Detail

One of our greatest strengths is our meticulous attention to detail. While we may not boast the most beautiful scenery or top-tier graphics, we aim to provide SIMS-like depth for every villager. Each villager will live their own life within the game, and you can follow their daily routines. Through excellent city management and by considering their suggestions, you can enhance their lives.

Beginner-Friendly with a High Skill Ceiling

Our goal is to create an enjoyable game for first-time players and seasoned veterans. Selectable difficulty levels will cater to different player skill levels. Importantly, there will always be room for improvement. Each game will present new challenges, encouraging players to learn, adapt, and master their environment. Regular balance patches and content expansions will keep the game fresh and engaging.

Vivid World

Your screen should never be empty or dull when viewing your town. Just as in real life, there will always be something happening. Villagers will always be busy, ensuring your town feels alive and dynamic.

Macromanagement

Players will indirectly influence their villagers' lives by constructing new houses and workshops and researching new technologies. Villagers will make their own decisions about getting married, promoting employees, building new homes or workshops, and pursuing careers. Players will set the foundations and framework within which their villagers will grow and develop. There will be minimal micromanagement required, as buildings will expand and evolve dynamically on their own.

Strategy + Simulation

At its core, we are developing a Real-Time Strategy game. However, we aim to create a unique atmosphere where players can immerse themselves in their citizens' lives. Instead of a stressful, high-intensity experience, we want players to enjoy watching their town flourish. Each villager will have their own personality, adding depth and individuality to the game.
